 Speed up the learners

Speed up the learners

18/08/2008 9:43:00 AM
"HERE we go again", is what I think on embarking on my daily commute to and from my Hornsby workplace via the F3.

The road is dangerous enough. Drifting trucks kicking up large rocks, oil slicks, debris from unsecured loads (even an unsecured rear bumper bar) and last, but certainly not least, the speed demons going well above the limit weaving their way home. All this while travelling at 110kmh.

As if this was not dangerous enough, we have young learner drivers who are limited to 80kmh thrown into the mix. Those learners who are willing to brave these conditions should be allowed to do 110kmh, so as to not impede the flow of traffic, as the restricting speed limit has almost caused myself to become a statistic on more than one occasion.

Let them do 110kmh or get them off it.

As most of the F3 freeway is two or even three lanes wide, I don't see how a learner driver doing 80kmh in the far left lane can cause you to have an accident. It's vitally important for learner drivers to learn how to drive safely before they learn to drive quickly.
