Real pollution on beach

14/08/2008 12:16:00 AM
FRANK Hinchey (Letters 9/8) seems to suggest that dogs spoil the spectacular sunrise show at Merewether Beach.

At sunrise during winter the beach is usually almost deserted, except for a few surfers.

It is a sad feature of our dog-unfriendly society that owners cannot enjoy the pleasure of a walk on the beach with a canine companion.

Responsible dog owners clean up after their dogs and those that do not should be fined it's a matter of education.

Dogs are not the cause of the real pollution I see on our beaches: plastic bags, bottles, broken glass and other rubbish.

I often see dog owners picking up this rubbish.
