Gold medal for Sydney

12/08/2008 10:04:00 AM
LAST Friday I travelled from Lake Macquarie to Sydney and returned the same day.

I have heard much criticism that drivers in the Newcastle area are bad drivers.

After experiencing Sydney drivers' continual non-use of indicators, drivers swerving from kerb lane to centre lane, overtaking then swinging back in front of my vehicle, I believe Newcastle drivers have nothing on their Sydney cousins.

The impatience shown by drivers of all vehicles, other than semitrailers, is a feature of Sydney's main roads.

During the trip I only saw one police car.

I have driven in many countries and without a doubt Newcastle drivers are the most selfish and inconsiderate I have encountered. They also can't turn corners without slowing down to two Ks an hour. Not many police cars either. They must all be hiding behind bushes on the freeway.
