IT was magnificent watching and singing along with the Carrie's Place Choir of No More Knocks on Saturday night at the University of Newcastle Great Hall.

Jonathon Welch, the founding musical director of the Choir of Hard Knocks, was a guest performer.

It was the most empowering concert I have ever attended.

I would like to thank the women in the Carrie's Place choir for sharing parts of themselves and their lives to raise awareness and educate individuals of all ages about the destructive and silenced nature of domestic and family violence in our local community.

You are definitely strong, powerful and determined women and the courage that you showed to take a stand against this violence was stirring.
