TOP jockey Dan Nikolic is confident unbeaten galloper Desuetude can maintain his winning form in Saturday's $1 million Golden Rose over 1400 metres at Rosehill.
Desuetude has put together wins at Hawkesbury, then at Rosehill in The Rosebud (1200m) and two weeks ago in The Run To The Roses (1300m) at Rosehill.
"This is Desuetude's greatest test but, make no mistake, this horse is good," Nikolic said at Broadmeadow yesterday.
"I had to ride him in front last start, and the horse showed tremendous courage to fight on after being headed to win.
"The way this race is looking, my horse should get a lovely run from gate seven.
"I know there are some budding stars in the race, but Desuetude has done nothing wrong and could easily keep up his unbeaten run."
Corey Brown, who had a winning double at Newcastle yesterday, could continue his winning run when he rides All American in the Golden Rose.
"The horse showed he is up to the elite level with his great form in the two-year-old races last year," said Brown, who won yesterday on the impressive Movin' Out in the Ausure Insurance Newcastle Maiden (1400m) and on Baby Casino in the Romantic Dream Maiden Plate (1500m).
In-form trainer Chris Waller landed a winning treble at Newcastle yesterday and is looking to the $150,000 Wyong Cup as his next target on Friday week.
Waller is aiming his in-form stayer Enzedex Eagle at the Wyong Cup.
"Enzedex Eagle will trial at Warwick Farm on Friday alongside Triple Honour and both will have a good hit-out," Waller said.
